OUR PATRONS

We have eight fabulous Patrons.......

All eight of our Patrons give up time to attend and judge the Grand Final (work commitments permitting).  Their job is to offer advice and guidance and use their industry expertise to select the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge Champions.

We are grateful to them for all of their support.

Our Patrons are:

Graham Norton

Graham is one of the best known faces on TV.  Not only is he the host of a primetime chat show but also presents a hugely popular Radio 2 programme on a Saturday morning.  Graham is also host of the annual Eurovision Song Contest and has compered all of the TV talent searches with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Graham is our longest serving Patron and acts as our Chief Judge.

Tamzin Outhwaite

Tamzin made her name playing Mel in Eastenders but is also an incredibly successful stage performer.  She has performed in some of the biggest musicals on the London stage including a long run as the named lead in Sweet Charity.  Tamzin attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and knows what it takes to be a top class performer.  She can currently been seen in the lead role in the BBC Series New Tricks.

John Partridge

John is another of our judges who broke into the mainstream playing a role in Eastenders - Christian, of course!  But John is musical theatre through and through - appearing in Cats, Tommy, Grease, Rent and Miss Saigon to name a few.  Most recently John played the part of the Producer, Zach, in the revival of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium.  John was also a judge on "Over The Rainbow" Lord Lloyd-Webbers search to find a Dorothy for his production of the Wizard of Oz!

Danny-Boy Hatchard

Better known as Lee Carter in Eastenders Danny-Boy is our newest Patron.  Although he is no stranger - Danny-Boy started his performing career in the Jack Petchey Theatre Challenge (the predecessor to the Glee Club Challenge). He has performed in "Beautiful Thing" in the West End, and on on tour, and has a cracking voice!!

Daniel Boys

Daniel Boys is an award winning performer whose career encompasses TV, West End musicals, national tours, as well as numerous concerts and recordings. His appearance on the hugely successful BBC TV talent show Any Dream Will Do in 2007 firmly established him as one of the UK's brightest emerging musical talents.

Brenda Edwards

Our final Patron Brenda came to prominence when she reached the semi final of the second series of the X-Factor. Musical success quickly followed as Brenda played lead roles in Chicago, Carmen Jones and most recently, playing the role of The Killer Queen in We Will Rock You.  Brenda has recently released her first album and has performed at our Grand Final for the last three years - literally, bringing the house down!

Brenda Emmanus

Brenda is currently BBC London News’ Art, Culture and Entertainment Correspondent.  Brenda’s profile rose as one of the co-presenters on BBC One’s The Clothes Show, which she contributed to for five years. She has since fronted the interior design programme The Terrace, The Midweek National Lottery and features for Holiday - all on BBC One. She was also one of the main presenters on Healthy Holidays and Money Makeovers for Granada and Sky Television. As a regular face on ITV’s This Morning, Brenda teamed up with Richard Madely and Judy Finnigan as their fashion and entertainment expert.

SuRie

SuRie is best known for representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 but she has a highbrow musical pedigree. She is a classically trained pianist and oboist, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has held several residencies in London jazz clubs. That said, she’s no stranger to Eurovision: on the contrary, she has featured in the contest twice already. In 2015, she was a backing singer on Loic Nottet’s Belgian entry, Rhythm Inside, while in 2017 she returned to Team Belgium as musical director for their entry City Lights by Blanche. SuRie worked as a Bootcamp tutor on the Glee Club Challenge in 2014 and we are delighted she is back with us bringing her wealth of musical and performance knowledge.
